This full-day tour is definitely more than your average tour. It is an awesome and unforgettable adventure, full of a diverse range of activities that will make you feel excited and alive! Today you will explore Inca archeological sites situated near Cusco, unique salt mines in Maras, and mystical agricultural terraces. You will also have an interesting lesson in textiles while meeting members of the local community. You will definitely be surprised at how many things there are to do and explore in just one day, even further by what a rich experience of history, culture and tradition you will enjoy!
We will start the tour at 6:30 am in Cusco. It will take around 1 hour by private car to reach our first spot, Chinchero, where we will visit the Inca ruins and participate in a workshop about the local textiles of the region.
After Chinchero, we journey onwards to explore the archaeological site of Moray, which contains unusual Inca ruins, consisting of several enormous, terraced, circular depressions.
From Moray, we carry on to our next destination, Maras. Here we will learn about the production of the popular Andean beverage, chicha de jora (corn beer), and take some time to stroll through the truly beautiful streets of this Andean settlement.
Salineras de Maras
After Maras, we continue the tour towards the incredible salt ponds, Salineras de Maras, which have been in use since Inca times. We will go there on foot, following an easy and relaxing hour-long trail during which we will have some spectacular views of the Cordillera Uubamba. In the salt mines you will have the chance to walk through more than 3000 salt ponds, learn about the production of salt, and see how Inca practices and traditions are still employed today.
We arrive in Ollantaytambo at approximately 4:00 pm. Here we explore the final Inca site of the day. Ollantaytambo´s ruins, built in the shape of a llama, are some of the most impressive in the region. The beautiful aspect of the sites that we visit on this day is that they all differ greatly from each other, giving us a great overview of the varying styles of ancient Inca architecture.
After short walk around the ruins and a stroll through the most spectacular parts of the town, you will take the train to Aguas Calientes at 7:00 pm, where you will have time to rest before exploring Machu Picchu the following day. You will arrive in Aguas Calientes at around 9:15 pm.

ACCLIMATIZATION TO HIGH ALTITUDE
For all of our adventure tours in Arequipa, Cusco or Puno region (biking, trekking, climbing or similar) we strongly suggest staying at high altitude (above 9840 feet / 3000 meters – in Cusco or another high altitude city/place) for at least 3 to 4 days before undertaking the trip. This is in order to minimize the effects of possible altitude sickness. Also, you can help your body acclimatize by drinking plenty of liquids, adding a bit more sugar to your drinks, eating food rich in carbohydrates, avoiding cigarettes / alcohol and drinking muña and coca (ancient traditional leaf) tea. Please before coming to the places with high altitude, ask your doctor about this topic and all possible medicine/medication you can take in the case of any problems caused by high altitude.
CHECK SOME IMPORTANT POINTS
Avoid unforeseen complications by arriving at the tour departure location at least one day before the beginning of the tour. Check requirements about passports and visas for entering Peru in advance.
