Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1: ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrival in Lima. We advise clients to book a flight that arrives in the morning so that you may continue on to Cusco via domestic flight in the same day.

There will be time to explore Lima at the end of the tour.

  • WHITE WATER RAFTING

Day at leisure in Cusco. It is important to acclimatize to the altitude (3400m above sea level) before beginning the more strenuous parts of the tour. Depending on your arrival time, you will visit the ruins of Saqsaywaman, the museum of Koricancha and other notable parts of the historical city center, where you can see a mixture of colonial and Inca architecture.

  • Day 3: OLLANTAYTAMBO TOWN AND PATACANCHA VALLEY

The Sacred Valley, also known as the Valley of Urubamba, is unique and very diverse. Not only does it offer breathtaking landscapes, but Peruvians believe it to be full of a particular, positive energy. Here you can find ruins from the Inca Empire, which are viewed as the most important and strategic in the entire country.  You can spend many days discovering new wonders in this part of the Cusco region, but for this tour we have selected one of most important and beautiful towns in the Sacred Valley – Ollantaytambo. The tour begins early in the morning with a private transfer to Ollantaytambo from your hotel in Cusco. We will visit the beautiful centre, browse the market (on market days) and visit the Inca ruins located just outside of the town.

A private transfer then takes us to Patacancha Valley where you will meet with local communities living in the high Andes and share a typical Andean lunch with them. In the afternoon we will trek from the pre-Inca ruins at Patacancha along a scenic trail back to Ollantaytambo.

From there, we meet the 7 pm train to the town of Aguas Calientes – also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.

  • Day 4: MACHU PICCHU

During this day you will have possibility to explore Machu Picchu from many diferent points. Inside the ruins there are many options available to you. You can hike one of the two small peaks, Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, or walk to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) and/or Inca bridge.

You will start the tour from Aguas Calientes where, early in the morning, you will take a bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu. In the ruins you will have a guided tour lasting approximtely 2 hours, after which you will have time to explore and discover the ancient city independently. You are welcome to stay in Machu Picchu until 5 pm, after which you will make your own way back to Aguas Calientes by bus. You will stay in Aguas Calinetes for dinner, before transferring to the small and very lovely town of Chinchero.

  • Day 5: CHINCHERO - MARAS - MORAY – SALIENRAS – CUSCO

Day 5 is an awesome and unforgettable venture into the local culture of the Sacred Valley! Today you will explore Inca archeological sites, a unique, traditional Inca salt mine and mystical agricultural terraces, as well as partaking in a textile lesson and meeting members of the local community. You will be amazed at just how many things there are to do and explore in one day! It is on this day that you have the chance to really enrich your knowledge and experience of local Andean traditions, crafts and customs.

Chinchero The day starts 6:30 am. After breakfast we will visit the Inca ruins of Chinchero, later particpating in an interesting lesson about the local textiles of the region.

Moray After Chinchero, we continue to Moray where we will explore some unusual Inca ruins, consisting of several enormous terraced circular depressions.

Maras From Moray we continue to the next destination – Maras. We will take a short pause in this small town and learn about the production of the popular Andean beverage, ´chicha de jora´ (corn beer). We will also have the chance to walk around and explore the quaint and beautiful streets of the town!

Salineras de Maras After Maras we continue the tour towards the incredible salt ponds, Salineras de Maras, that have been in use since Inca times. We will go there on foot following an easy and relaxing trail for approximately 1 hour. Along the way we will be able to enjoy some spectacular views of the Cordillera Uubamba! Once we arrive at the salt mines you will have a chance to walk through more than 3000 salt ponds and learn about the production of salt – methods which have been used since the time of the Inca Empire.

Cusco After full day of different activites we will reach Cusco at 7 pm – leaving you plenty of time to discover the restaurants and nightlife of this beautiful city!

  • Day 6: CUSCO – JULIACA – LAKE TITICACA

In the afternoon, we continue by boat to Amantani Island where you will have the possibility to meet with local communities living on the island.

You will spend the night or in the hotel close to Lake Titicaca or, if you would like to experience authentic life on the lake, we can organise a homestay with a local family on Amantani.
