Immerse yourself in authentic Andean culinary traditions with our signature Sacred Valley Pachamanca and Moray excursion. Begin your journey at the breathtaking concentric agricultural terraces of Moray (3,500m), where Incan agronomists engineered microclimates for crops from across Tahuantinsuyo. Then, visit an organic family hacienda nestled beneath glaciated Andean peaks. Participate in preparing a traditional Pachamanca—a sacred culinary ritual where marinated meats, native potatoes, corn, and fresh aromatic herbs (huacatay and chincho) are buried and slow-cooked over white-hot volcanic stones. Unearth the steaming feast and enjoy a farm-to-table banquet paired with artisanal chicha de jora and local craft beer.
Pickup from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley at 8:00 AM. Travel through the scenic Maras plateau with panoramic views of the Vilcanota snow-capped range. Arrive at Moray (3,500m / 11,483 ft) for a guided exploration of the ancient sunken amphitheaters where the Incas tested plant genetics across multiple temperature zones. Proceed to our private organic farm in the valley. Meet the local Quechua culinary hosts and participate in heating the volcanic stones over an open wood fire. Help layer the marinated chicken, pork, or lamb with native tubers (camote, mashua, oca, and heirloom potatoes), broad beans, and humitas, covered by wild Andean herbs and damp plantain leaves under rich soil. While the earth oven works its magic for 45 minutes, enjoy a guided herb garden walk and chicha tasting. Witness the ceremonial opening of the earth and savor an abundant family-style banquet overlooking the valley.
